Jammu Smart City to conduct third-party inspections of projects

JAMMU: With an objective to maintain high quality and safety standards of developmental works, the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) will conduct third-party inspections of ongoing as well as completed projects in the city, an official said on Tuesday.

MSV International Inc has been appointed by JSCL to conduct third-party inspections in addition to existing facilities to ensure the high quality and safety standards of all the projects, the official said.

“The third-party inspections will cross-check the quality and safety standards being maintained by JSCL for the execution of all the projects in the city of temples,” its Chief Executive Officer Rahul Yadav said.

He said the JSCL has been ensuring quality parameters and maintaining structural integrity of the projects with an in-house field lab where day-to-day engineering tests are being conducted.

“The operation of these labs is performed by various government authorised agencies and by the representatives of various contractors and cross verified by the engineers of JSCL,” he said.

Yadav said the initiative will play a vital role in maintaining high quality and safety standards as a number of projects like Tawi River front development, complete street development projects, improvement of junctions and others are at various stages of completion.

Earlier in the day, the contract agreement was exchanged between Additional CEO, JSCL, Hitesh Gupta and officials of MSV International Inc here.

Gupta said the agency will doubly ensure that the tests performed in the field lab are accurate and without error. “The agency will also be responsible for periodic inspection of works and suggest measures, if any required for the overall improvement of the project in terms of adherence to norms and quality parameters,” he said.
