JAMMU: The SAI Training Centre (STC) teams continued their dominance in the ongoing Jammu Open Basketball Championship with both Warriors and Terriers making it to the semifinals stages of the competition underway at MA Stadium, here on Wednesday.
While STC warriors entered semis in style, winning their last two engagements against SOS and Jodhamal School 54-16 and 46-14 respectively, STC Terriers suffered defeat at the hands of BSF Red Demons.
The fourth semifinalist team shall be decided according to the rules of classification after SOS and KC International School (KCIS) were locked in the pool with equal points in the group matches.
Abhinav Sharma was the star of STC Warrior’s win against SOS in the morning, scoring 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds. In other matches, Jodhamal Public School defeated Jammu district 31-22 with Harsh contributing 12 points for the winners, while KCIS defeated SOS 38-30 with Arsh adding 18 points for the winners.
The semi finals shall be played tomorrow morning, followed by the final in the evening session.
The matches were officiated by the technical penal including Harpreet Singh (BFI referee), Ranbir Singh and Gourav Malik (both NIS diploma holders), Rajesh Bandral, Rajesh Bhagat, Sumit Dogra, Vaneet Pangotra, Shubham Sharma, Abhishek, Vinod Dogra (all JKBA referees).
This tournament is being organized under the aegis of J&K Basketball Association, SAI STC and J&K State Sports Council and supervised by senior SAI coaches, Amarjit Singh and Aman Sharma.
