JAMMU: A one-day capacity building program under the ambitious Mission YUVA (Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan) was organised on Friday in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Jammu. The event, held under the supervision of the District Development Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya focussed on equipping young people with the skills and entrepreneurial spirit needed to generate sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The program brought together district officers, Block Development Officers, Child Development Project Officers and experts from various sectors. Notable speakers included Director Skill Development J&K, representatives from the Government Polytechnic College, NABARD and J&K Bank, all of whom shared their expertise on topics ranging from credit facilitation to fostering youth entrepreneurship.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Skill Development, O.P. Bhagat, highlighted the importance of creating an environment conducive to entrepreneurship, stating, “We must cultivate an atmosphere where entrepreneurship can thrive, as this will not only empower our youth but also generate much-needed employment. A target has been set to facilitate the establishment of over 1.37 lakh enterprises across the region.”
Representatives from J&K Bank emphasised the bank’s role in providing financial support to young entrepreneurs, while experts from NABARD focused on the collaborative strategies that could drive the mission forward, particularly in rural areas. The program concluded with closing remarks from the Assistant Director District Employment & Counselling Centre, Mukhlis Ali who expressed optimism about the path ahead for the region’s youth.
