NEW DELHI: Jammu will host, possibly the first of its kind, a two-day national workshop on administrative reforms under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Personnel, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (ARPG). The main theme of the meet, beginning on 11th November, will be “Right to Services Act”.
This was disclosed here on Thursday by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also the Minister incharge for the Union Ministry of Personnel which includes Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (ARPG).
Secretaries and senior officers from around 20 States of India are expected to participate in the workshop which will be coordinated by Union Secretary ARPG, C. Viswanath and Vice Chancellor Central University Jammu, Prof Ashok Aima. The workshop will be spread over different sessions across two days and will include panel discussions and presentations by the participating States. Awards will also be presented to States with best practices in governance. At a curtain-raising media briefing held here today, Dr Jitendra gave details of the proceedings of the two-day workshop which will be documented by the Administrative Staff College of India and will derive important inputs for States which may be considering the implementation of the “Right to Services Act” and also for the Central Government where a scheme on the subject is already under consideration. He said, the ARPG has already issued instructions to all the Central Government Departments to ensure that Citizens’ Charter containing list of services along with service tenders including timelines and grievance redressal mechanism, be formulated, updated and uploaded on their respective websites. Keeping its commitment to provide a transparent and accountable governance, Dr Singh said, the Modi Government has taken a series of steps in the last two years and now virtually all the details pertaining to different decisions and status of different union Ministries are available in the public domain.
