Jammu to host 62nd National Football Championship

JAMMU: Minister for Youth Services and Sports and Technical Education, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, on Thursday said that Jammu is all set to host 62nd National School Games Football Tournament which will be organized in the winter capital from 6 to 10 December 2016.
Chairing a high level meeting to review the arrangements for the event, the minister was apprised about the preparations being made by various departments to organize the championship. The Minister directed the concerned to put all the necessary arrangements in place well ahead of the schedule for smooth conduct of the championship in which 30 teams from different States of the country will participate.
Pertinently, Kashmir successfully hosted 61th National School Games Football Tournament in 2015. The minister also laid stress on constituting various committees that would look after the facilities of healthcare, drinking water, cleanliness and refreshment during the championship.
Director Youth Services and Sports, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad informed the meeting that the arrangements for the tournament are in full swing and various committees have been constituted for the successful conduct of the championship.
The minister stressed that sports activities have helped to promote the talent of the state youth, besides providing opportunity to the lovers of sports to witness the events. He added that our sportspersons have excelled, bringing laurels for the State. The minister added that the Department has been organizing a series of sports activities within and outside the state to promote sports culture. He added that the event should be given proper publicity inviting the sports lovers to witness the competitions between national level teams.
Besides others, Director General Youth Services & Sports and officials from various departments were present in the meeting.
