STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Reaching out to the people of Jammu region, patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Saturday said if voted to power his party will bring the area on the heritage tourism map.
He said that change was imminent in the State and people of the J&K were looking towards PDP to get rid of the present inept and corrupt dispensation.
Addressing a public meeting in Jammu city in support of party candidate Bharat Choudhary, Mufti said that PDP in its election manifesto has especially emphasised on Jammu city so as to develop this historical city as heritage tourism destination.
“We come out with a vision document exclusively for Jammu region for the over-all development, growth and betterment of this region,” he said.
Seeking support of every section of the society to establish a new system of justice and equality in Jammu and Kashmir, he said the ongoing Assembly election is an historic opportunity to change destiny of the people of this State. He asked the people to avail this opportunity to carve out a new path of peace, development and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We have a comprehensive vision for developing this historic city in every sphere of life,” he said.
He also recalled that during his tenure as chief minister he had initiated many revolutionary steps for beautification of Jammu city.
Mufti, however, regretted various ambitious projects like artificial lake and rope way are hanging in balance due to non-serious approach of the present regime.
“Give PDP a chance, we will change destiny of the people because our agenda is formulated by incorporating wishes and aspirations of the people,” he said.
Mufti said that PDP was the real voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He especially mentioned that 2002 assembly elections which, according to him, were turning pointing in the history of the State when people of Jammu and Kashmir had realised that they can change government through their votes.
Mufti said that it was all due to the overwhelming support of the then NDA government headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee that the previous PDP-led government had successfully initiated peace and development agenda in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Before 2002 there were complaints of discrimination with Jammu region but PDP government had treated all regions equally,” he said.
Observing that the just concluded Parliament elections have already set a trend for the coming assembly elections in the State, he said, “The way people of J&K have totally rejected ruling coalition in the Parliamentary polls is a clear indication that change is imminent in the State.”
