Jammu Central Cooperative Bank celebrates 61th Coop Week

JAMMU: In connection with Centenary Celebrations of Jammu Central Cooperative Bank (JCCB) and 61th Cooperative Week a function was organised by the Bank, here on Thursday.
The function was presided over by Secretary Cooperative R.K Koul. While as Registrar, Cooperatives, Basharat Saleem and senior officers of the Cooperative Department, JCCB, RBI and NABARD were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the role of the cooperative institutions, Koul said that the motive of the bank was not to earn profit but to extend financial help to the farming community for improving their socio economic status.
“To sustain in the competitive market we have to strive hard” said the Secretary and asked the functionaries of the bank to work for improving financial health of the institution by ensuring timely recovery of loans from borrowers. He said it is possible once the working of the banks is run on professional lines.
Secretary said that celebrating Cooperative Week was aimed to sensitize people about the Cooperative Movement and its benefits introduced by late Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru the first prime minister of India. He asked functionaries to be courteous and polite while dealing with the clients.
It was given out that 116 PACS are functional in Jammu Province while the deposits of the bank have touched to Rs 1414.37 crore with 434918 account holders. He said bank has advanced Rs 414.02 crore apart from extending advancing Rs. 71.81 crore to 36734 Kissan Credit Card holders till date during current fiscal.
Registrar, Cooperatives also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the aim of celebration of Cooperative Week in the back drop of Cooperative Movement. MD, JCCB presented vote of thanks.
