Jammu can’t be allowed to convert into refugee camp: Harsh

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Close on the heels of settlement of foreign nationals including Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu, the State Government has embarked upon yet another obnoxious move of opening of fresh registrations for Kashmir migrants in Jammu, observed Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP Chairman and former Minister.
He said that with the concerned authorities turning a blind eye towards raging demographic changes, the people of Jammu were fast losing their patience.
He said that while the otherwise calm and highly accommodative people of Jammu were seething with rage over the illegal settlement of foreign nationals issue, the mandated leaders of Jammu were making vague nauseating statements in their vain attempts to absolve themselves by deflecting the blame to opposition parties deliriously oblivious of the fact that they were running the governments in New Delhi and J and K.
Accusing the BJP of duplicity and double standards, Singh said that these self proclaimed champions of Jammu stood fully exposed for their imbecility and pusillanimity and would be taught a befitting lesson by the people for causing irreparable damage to Dogra culture and ethos.
Expressing grave concern over the flooding of Jammu with people from various parts of the world and the country, Singh said that Dogras were being reduced to a miniscule minority under a well hatched conspiracy.
After having avoided any action against illegal immigrants comprising Rohingyas, Bangladeshis, Tibetans etc in Jammu, the BJP-PDP Government had now set in motion the process of fresh registrations of Kashmir migrants in this part of the State by issuance of an order through the Revenue Department.
He said that the recent order issued by the Revenue Department in this regard had created an alarm in Jammu as all further registrations for migrants banned since 2008 so as to curb the unhealthy practice were sought to be re-opened despite the tall claims of the government of having restored normalcy in Kashmir. He said that the people of Jammu saw this as yet another attempt on the part of the govt. to change the demographic profile of Dogra land and to create a regional rupture.
Describing the move of the government as obnoxious, Harsh said that not only the content but the language used in the govt. order reflected the pernicious designs of the sinister alliance.
Elucidating further, Singh said that the Revenue Department order categorically laid down the modus operandi in the said government order for registration of migrants “who have migrated or may migrate due to threat to them or to their families from militants”, thus clearly stipulating that those likely to face threats in future would also be covered under the new order.
He said it was widely being felt in Jammu that under the garb of the said order the govt. wanted to clear the decks for settling more people in Jammu from other regions. And all this notwithstanding the loud pronouncements being made on regular basis for “Return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants” and the unanimous Assembly resolutions calling for return of all Kashmiri migrants to valley, he pointed out.
He said that people of Jammu genuinely believed that the ruling alliance wanted to accommodate their political workers in Jammu by conferring upon them all benefits of migrants including doles in cash and kind, besides free accommodation as also other benefits under PMRP.
Lambasting the BJP for its anti Jammu posturing, Singh said that Jammu could not be allowed to be converted into a refugee camp. He regretted that BJP had not only maintained culpable silence over the issue of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis but had acquiesced in the process of fresh migrations to Jammu thus allowing the erosion of Dogra identify and dilution of rich culture of Dogras.
Seeking the review of the new order for fresh registration of Kashmir migrants, Singh further called for early deportation of illegal foreign nationals in view of growing resentment and huge outrage sparked in Dogra land due to their unlawful settlement in various colonies in and around Jammu.
