Jammu boys bag U-17, U-19 Handball titles

UDHAMPUR: District Jammu made it a double title win when they clinched under-19 and under-17 finals in the inter-division Handball tournament held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), here on Saturday.
In under-19 group, Jammu defeated Kashmir 26-10 while in under-17 age category, Jammu Division trounced Kashmir 19-15. However, in under-14, Kashmir boys beat Jammu Division 27-09.
The event was selection process to name J&K teams for the upcoming National School Games.
The closing ceremony was graced by Devender Singh Bahu, CEO PDA, as the Chief Guest and Dwarka Natha Sharma, Chairman of the Rotary Eye Club as Guest of Honour.
Romesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Udhampur, welcomed to the guests.
In his address, the Guest of Honour extended best wishes to the players, commending the department’s efforts.
The Chief Guest, reflecting on his own fervour for sports, reminisced about his college days as a hockey player and lauded the distinctive character development fostered through athletic participation.
He conveyed his best wishes to all competitors, underscoring the transformative impact of sports.
The organizers extend their heartfelt gratitude to all participants, officials, and supporters whose contributions were instrumental to the resounding success of this tournament.
Officiating Staff included Ajay Sharma, Bandana Sharma, Karun Magotra, Sanjeev Kumar, Bhoopinder Singh, Vipin Photra, Ravi Kumar, Sourabh Pandit, Nitika Sharma, Vicky Kumar and Pallvi Magotra.
The technical staff members included Jaswinder Singh, Ajit Singh Bandral, Sanjay Sharma, Anshu Brat Khanna while the selectors were Taqdir Singh, Rahul Singh and Shauqat Rashid.
Anita Goswami, Som Dev Khajuria, Ramesh Chander, Sanjeev Kumar, Vikas Sharma, Jatin Sethi, Abdul Qadir, Sanjeev Khajuria, Anshu Brat Khanna and Meenakshi Sharma were also present.
