SRINAGAR: An organisation of Jammu and Kashmir government employees on Monday said it will Gherao Civil Secretariat, the seat of the state government on May 28 to press for regularisation of daily wagers and casual labourers working in many departments.
“The employees will go for Secretariat Gherao against the dilly- dallying policy of the government towards the issues of working class,” President, Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Qayoom Wani told reporters here. He appealed to all categories of employees to participate in the protest.
“We will intensify the agitation if the government uses force or does not heed to the demands and the whole responsibility of that will lie on the government,” he said.
Wani said that Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu had said on the floor of the Assembly that the government was framing a policy for daily wagers and casual employees but even after three months, nothing has been done. “We ask the government to come up with the policy. In case it fails to do so, the protest will be intensified,” he said.
