‘Jammu-Akhnoor road entrusted to NHIDCL for upgradation’

SRINAGAR: Minister for R&B A.R Veeri on Monday said that widening of roads is under taken in the states as per approved works programme. He said that the road from Jammu-Akhnoor has been entrusted to National High Way Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) for its upgradation to 4-lane National Highway standard and the Expression of Interest has been invited by NHIDCL for engaging consultant for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The minister was replying to a question raised by Surinder Kumar Choudhary in upper House today.
The minister said that road from Akhnoor to Poonch is with Border Roads Organization and preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for four lanning of this stretch is being done by them.
Veeri said that there is no proposal under consideration with BRO at present to construct tunnels from Tanda to Chowki Choura to Bhambla in Kalidhar mountainous range and BG to Surankote and Nowshera to Narrian on the pattern of Chenani-Nashri tunnel in mountainous belt of Rajouri and Poonch.
