Jammu AIIMS: JKNPP stages protest at Jantar Mantar

NEW DELHI: J and K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) activists led by Chairman Harsh Dev Singh on Thursday staged a Dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi to mark resentment against the shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir which was earlier announced to be established at Jammu.
Hundreds of JKNPP leaders and workers including Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman, Balwant Singh Mankotia, State President, Yashpaul Kundal, State President, Young Panthers, Rajiv Jolly Khosla, President, Delhi Pradesh Panthers Party, Pushvinder Singh Manhas, Senior Vice President, Young Panthers, Pavan Dev Singh, State Secretary besides others assembled at Jantar Mantar and after staging a sit in for three hours proceeded towards Parliament raising anti-BJP and anti-Coalition Government slogans. They were intercepted by the police on their way and stopped from proceeding further.
Addressing the protesters, Harsh said that the two parties which were diametrically opposed to each other on all issues had entered into an opportunistic and adulterous relationship under a highly mischievous power sharing agreement.
Accusing the BJP of taking a complete ‘U’ turn on its core philosophy and making a seismic shift from its avowed fundamentals, Singh said that the saffron party had committed the Herculean blunder which would prove to be its Waterloo at the hustings.
He said that the BJP led Government at the Centre could sanction one more AIIMS for Kashmir but the already approved AIIMS was required to be established in Jammu.
Harsh reiterated the resolve of the JKNPP to continue its crusade for ending all forms of discrimination against Jammu region and for ensuring equitable share to it in all fields.
Balwant Singh Mankotia, State President vowed to continue the protests against the shameless surrender of the BJP on the issue of AIIMS. He said that Kashmir already has one SKIMS which offers specialised treatment facilities with Chief Minister already having announced Rs.150 crores additionality for its upgradation. But Jammu region continued to be ignored and deprived in the BJP partnered government and despite the tall claims and loud pronouncements being made by the saffron party merely to hoodwink the people of Jammu region, he added.
Mankotia further ridiculed the cowardly surrender of BJP on Dogra Certificate, grant of State Subject rights to West Pakistan Refugees and conferment of voting rights upon them.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Yashpaul Kundal, Sham Gorkha, Rajesh Padgotra, Yashpaul Singh Manhas, Dharam Singh, Karnail Singh, Baldev Singh, Mohan Lal Gupta, B.S Billowria, Advocate Romesh Khajuria, Sanjay Verma, Dhani Ram Attri, Vishav Dev Singh, Kuldip Singh, Sukhjit Singh, Angrez Singh, Makhan Lal and Bashir Ahmed.
