Jailed Pakistani terrorist killed, cop injured in firing incident during weapon recovery operation

JAMMU: A jailed Pakistani terrorist, who snatched police weapon, in a bid to flee from border area in Jammu where he was taken to identify the drone weapon dropping sites in Arnia and Phallian Mandal, was killed in retaliation firing while a police constable injured.

FIR 12/2022 dated February 24, 2022 was registered at Arnia (case of weapons dropping through drone from Pakistan and subsequent recoveries of arms and ammunitions).

One of the accused had revealed that a Pakistani prisoner Mohd Ali Hussain alias Qasim Jehangir, resident of Pakistan, has been instrumental in drone droppings and is main operative of LeT and Al Badr.

During sustained questioning,  Pakistani  terrorist Mohd Ali Hussain admitted his role in the Arnia weapon Drop case and also disclosed two locations where the arms and ammunition were dropped by drones and later concealed.

In order to recover the weapons, a police team along with concerned magistrate went to the spots. Though no recovery was made at the first place in Arnia but at the second place Toph village (near International Border) in Phallian Mandal area packet of arms, ammunitions and explosives was recovered.

When the packet was being opened, Mohd Ali Hussain attacked one of the Police official and snatched his service rifle. He fired at the police party and tried to flee from the spot. In retaliation Pakistani terrorist Mohd Ali Hussain got injured and was shifted to GMC Jammu along with injured police official. The injured terrorist later succumbed to his injuries.  The dropped packets are being scrutinized with the help of Bomb disposal squad. Further investigations are being conducted.
