JAMMU: The shortlisted candidates for the post of Jail Warden in Department of Prison today staged protest demanding release of final selection list, which is pending for the last four years for some unknown reasons.
Led by Ashwani Sharma, the short-listed candidates amid anti government slogans assembled in front of Press Club Jammu and flayed government and the concerned authorities for adopting callous attitude.
The protesting candidates appealed the DG Prisoner to release the pending list as the same is cleared by the Civil Secretariat.
Reiterating their resolve to continue their agitation, the agitators warned the government not to test their patience and release the list as soon as possible.
Ashwani Kumar informed that 41,182 unemployed youth had applied for the post in 2005, out of which 1,247 candidates were shortlisted for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010, adding even after more than three years, the final selection list is yet to be released.
The selected candidates urged the Chief Minister, MoS Home, Principal Secretary Home, and Director General Prison to personally look into the matter and release the list at an earliest.
“No recruitment has taken place in the Department of Prison since 1995 and there are over 2000 vacancies, but the State Government is still delaying the final selection of the candidates,” said another protestor.
