KATHUA: Cut and Curve Cricket Club Samba won Jai Baba Birfa Nath Ji Premium League tournament trophy by defeating Sangwali XI by four runs in the final played at Jatwal Cricket Ground, here on Sunday.
Batting first after winning the match, Cut and Curve Cricket Club Samba set a target of 160 runs in 15 overs. In reply, Sangwali-Eleven failed to chase the target and was bowled out for 156 runs thus lost the match by four runs. The match was officiated by Sunil and Vishal as Umpires.
In the closing ceremony, former MLC, Subash Chander Gupta was the Chief Guest who gave away trophies to winner and runner up teams in the presence of organisers Rajesh Sharma, Amit Kumar and Varun.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest expressed hope that such tournaments will be organised in future also to hone the talent of youth.
He exhorted upon the youth to come forward and channelise their energies in sports activities and urged upon them to refrain from drugs.
Naresh Sharma ex-President MC Kathua, Dewan Khajuria, Devinder Singh, Sarpanch Vijay Tagotra, Jug Ram, Satpal Choudhary, Kant Kumar, Tarsem Singh, Brijeshwar Singh, Jai Ram, Raj Kumar Khajuria, Chanan Singh Sasan were also present on the occasion.
