JAMMU: Showing stellar grit and tenacity Jahanveer Singh notched up a cracking century to guide Jammu Strikers Cricket Club to a huge win by 144 runs over Red Capes Cricket Club in the ongoing Cricket for Excellence-2 U-19 One Day Tournament, being jointly organised by Safran Cricket Club and Country Cricket Academy at Country Cricket Stadium Gharota, near here.
Earlier, batting first, Jammu Strikers CC scored a good total of 256 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Jahanveer Singh top scored with brilliant 113 runs off 113 balls, studded with 13 fours and 2 sixes, while Varun contributed 60 off 66 balls with the help of 8 boundaries.
Shourya Chouhan was the most successful bowler from Red Tapes Cricket Club, who took 4 wickets by conceding 44 runs in 10 overs.
In reply, Red Tapes Cricket Club bundled out for 112 runs in 35.1 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 144 runs. Shourya Chouhan top scored with 36 runs off 52 balls with 4 boundaries.
For Jammu Strikers Cricket Club, Sourav Sharma and Sugal Aggarwal captured 3 wickets each.
The Tournament. an initiative of Country Cricket Club and Safran Cricket Club, is being held under the overall supervision of Vikrant Sharma and Sarthak Khoda.
Six teams are taking part in this tournament. The participating teams include Safran Cricket Club, Jammu Strikers, Crossway Academy, Katra Academy, Weekend Warriors and Red Capes XI.
