J and K: State of ‘neglect’

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to raise my voice and express my view about the present situation in the State.
It is most frustrating to see a state of mismanagement at its peak. Jammu roads are in such a mess, one feels one is living in an abandoned city. Not a single road is without potholes, broken surface and dug up sides.
What takes the cake and should shame the authorities is the state of road from Kunjwani to Narwal. It is a part of National Highway but is not maintained at all. I wonder if anyone is responsible for it. The traffic islands and network of the roads around it are in terrible condition. The worthy engineers have not been able to repair the place after catering for drainage of water. Add to it the traffic mess and it is a perfect place for serious accidents.
The road under the rail bridge is in a shape, anyone would be ashamed of. Concerned agency could not care less if the vehicles get damaged while crossing that stretch.
Some flower bushes were put on the divider a couple of years back. Large number of them are growing but the place has never been maintained. The divider is full of weeds, disfigured tree guards and unkempt bushes. Divider also boasts of any number of crossing places made by public for their convenience.
Will the authorities wake up and have the pride to sort out the mess? I am sure they are not thinking of re-building the road after it gets completely damaged!!
The public also needs to contribute in maintenance of the road, its cleanliness and traffic discipline. A tough ‘ask’ from our ‘cultured’ public!!!
I request the concerned authorities to make the above road trafficable and give it a look of National Highway.
