J and K Public Grievances Forum start campaign against drug addiction

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: To fight against this drug addiction, J and K Public Grievances Forum (JKPGF) in collaboration with Swarangan Meditation Charitable Trust started door-to-door campaign on Wednesday in Jammu and Samba Districts to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs.
The team of JKPGF led by Rakesh Sharma reached remote areas of Samba and Jammu Districts and started counselling people especially youths to make them understand about the curse of drug addiction.
According to JKPGF, drug addiction is a cancer which is crippling the mental and physical well being of youth population of Jammu.
It is mainly the student community which has become freely addicted to drugs. They have become habitual of intoxicants and other psychotropic substances and obviously their lives have become quiet valueless without drugs, Rakesh said.
The drug addicted youths become alienated from the society and this is the main reason for them to indulge in anti social activities which ultimately results in increased crime rate of a society, he added.
In Jammu and Kashmir this curse of drug addiction has turned many innocent youths into the hell of militancy, he said adding that youth of today is the future of tomorrow and it should be our constant endeavour to provide proper guidance and meaningful counselling to the children who are deviated from the right path.
Other members of the team in the campaign were Meenakshi, Surinder Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Kavita, Shalini and Vijay Gupta.
