Jammu: With BJP keen to replicate its success in Haryana and Maharashtra in the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the party has decided to utilise social media to reach out to the voters in the State.
During the Lok Sahba elections held earlier this year, the social media played a major role in BJP’s massive win.
“Apart from the traditional print and electronic media, in the upcoming Assembly elections the party would also focus on tapping the potential of social media,” BJP State Spokesman and Press Secretary Balbir Ram Rattan said.
The BJP State Unit has already set up a Cyber Wing of the party to put across its message to the masses using the social media.
“As soon as the party nominates the names of its candidates, the campaign using social media would intensify,” Rattan said.
The BJP’s State Election Campaign Committee today held its meeting in which the leaders emphasized the use of social media to put across its message to the masses especially the youth.
The party leaders say that they are filled with “fresh energy” infused by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and were excited with the huge potential displayed by the social media in the LoK Sabha elections and the Assembly polls in Haryana and Maharashtra. “Large number of people especially the youth use social media and we would reach them using the tools of social media,” a senior BJP leader said.
He said the party would be inaugurating its election office tomorrow that would be equipped with all modern facilities including a round the clock high speed internet connectivity to carry out party’s social media campaign.
“The party will achieve the target of 44 (seats) and given the enthusiasm of the people in the State we are hopeful to cross the 44 mark in the upcoming Assembly elections and would form the next government in the State,” BJP MP and party in charge for Jammu and Kashmir Avinash Rai Khanna said.
Khanna in an interview to PTI yesterday had said that the party would contest all the 87 assembly seats on its own. (PTI)
