JAMMU: Gandhi Nagar Club won the inaugural match of the First Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Gold Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Youth National Conference Gandhi Nagar, at Government High School ground, Satwari, here on Sunday.
To enter into the next round of the competition, Gandhi Nagar Club defeated MSCC by five wickets. Batting first, MSCC made 98 runs. Sachin remained top scorer with 28 runs while Dammy contributed 13. For Gandhi Nagar Club, Sahib Khan claimed three wickets while Gagandeep took two. Arif Khan, Sukhvinder and Sahil Singh shared apiece each.
In reply, Gandhi Nagar Club chased the total in 14 overs losing five wickets. Dheeraj Raina scored highest 10-ball 30 runs and Sahil Singh added 26 runs coming off 16 deliveries. Arif khan contributed 14. For MSCC, Jimmy and Varinder shared two wickets each.
For his all round performance, Sahil Singh was declared Man of the Match.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by former MLC and Vice President of J and K National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta. He was accompanied by Chairman of Organising Committee, Surinder Singh Bunty.
