Ishaq of Jammu lifts 18th Shiv Khori Kesari title

KATRA: Wrestler Ishaq Ahmed of Bajarangi Akhara Jammu, resident of Bathandi lifted 18th Shiv Khori Title 2016 by defeating Wrestler Amrit Paul of Goal Bagh Stadium Amritsar in Punjab in a neck to neck contest that lasted for 19 minutes at Government High School Ransoo, the Base Camp of Shiv Khori in Ransoo Block of District Reasi.
As a part of famous and historic annual three days Shiv Khori Mela, Vishal Dangal was organised by J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J and K Tourism Department, Ransoo Dangal Committee and District Administration Reasi under the overall supervision of President J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
MLA Reasi Advocate Ajay Nanda was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who gave away the cash prizes to the winner and runners up wrestlers.
Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India who is also Joint Secretary J and K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Executive Officer, Shiv Khori Shrine Board who is also Mela Officer, Mahesh Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Dr. Swarn Singh Chib and Tehsildar Pouni, Munshi Ram were the Guests of Honour.
Prominent persons who were present on the occasion Additional SP Sanjay Raina, DySP Head Quarter Mohan Lal Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Ransoo Ashok Kumar, District General Secretary BJP Sat Paul Sharma, ZEPO Anwar Hussian, ZPEO Manohar Lal Sharma, XEN PMGSY Hem Raj Langeh, SHO Ransoo Jasvinder Singh, Joginder Singh and Chaman Lal Bhagat.
In all 45 bouts were played in the Vishal Dangal. Winner of first bout Ishaq Ahmed was awarded with Rs 5,000 along with traditional Silver Gurj and Patta while runner-up Wrestler Amrit Paul got Rs 3,000. Second main bout was won by Basant Singh of Amritsar who defeated Farooq of Sarore. Third bout was won by Nisar of Doda who defeated Wrestler Rahil of Amritsar.
Ransoo Dangal Committee and Technical Officials who helped for the conduct of the Vishal Dangal include Sarpanch Kewal Krishan, Sarpanch Paul Chand, Sarpanch Swarn Singh, Sarpanch Bharat Singh, Bhagwan Singh, Romesh Chander Kholi, Karan Singh, Mohan Lal, Romesh Chander Sharma, Sansar Chand, Tilak Raj Kholi, Kapoor Singh, Captain Lehar Singh (Retd.), Sanjeev Sharma, Murli Dhar (Munna), Mohd. Fareed, Bansi Lal, Abdul Rehman, Rashpaul Singh, Ram Krishan, Jugal Kumar Banathia, Swarn Singh, Dheeraj Kesar and Subash Chander.
Other Results: Panku of Jammu beat Gopal Singh of Jindrah, Ajay Sharma of Udhampur defeated Javed Khan of Nargada, Akram of Chouadi trounced Johnny of H.P, Gurmail of Chandigarh blanked Bobari of Sarore, Subash Singh of Narkote beat Vir Singh of Reasi, Akram of Jammu trounced Devinder of Domana and Fiza of Billawar outplayed Shootu of Akhnoor.
