Is voting really a power for common masses?

Astik Kohli, Social Activist

Since Jammu and Kashmir was converted into a Union Territory, there have been no assembly elections here. Now, for the first time, elections are taking place in the Union Territory. I appeal to the people to vote only for those who have genuinely worked for the betterment of Jammu. Vote for those who have delivered results and make sure to vote wisely and thoughtfully. Do not waste your vote.

For the past 10 years, we have been waiting for elections here, and now polls are finally about to happen. This will also address many issues faced by the common people, as numerous projects have been stalled for quite some time. It seems that some change will be seen in Jammu and Kashmir. I congratulate the Election Commission for bringing us this good news. We hope that whoever wins the election will certainly work for the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir.

Firstly, the bureaucracy in Jammu and Kashmir had been problematic; people’s issues were not being resolved, and the public was frustrated. With the transition of our state into a Union Territory, several changes have taken place, including the implementation of various laws directly from the central government that were not previously in effect here. I believe we should view all these changes positively. I appeal to everyone to actively participate in the elections and make their voices heard.

After 10 years, voting for assembly elections is taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. We should all actively participate and vote for the candidate or party that prioritizes the interests of Jammu and Kashmir. We need to advocate for the restoration of statehood, as the people of Jammu will not find relief until then. I appeal to the people of Jammu to participate in the elections to support the restoration of statehood and the development of Jammu.

Amreek, Businessman

Assembly elections are going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir after several years, which I welcome. We have been waiting for a long time for elections to be conducted here, but the conditions were not favorable. A lot has changed in Jammu and Kashmir, and now we have the right to choose our public representatives. The ensuing elections have rekindled a hope that change is coming to Jammu and Kashmir, and this will be for the betterment of the people.

The conditions in the region were not right, which is why elections were not held. Today, thanks to the efforts of the central government, things have improved here, and now assembly elections are being conducted, which I welcome. It is time for the voice of the people to reach the government. Many are frustrated because elections have not been held here for several years, resulting in unresolved issues. I now hope that solutions can be found for all the problems faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, so that everyone living here can breathe a sigh of relief.
