SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad on Tuesday dedicated a production well having a discharge of 7000 gallons/hr. to the community at Rather Mohalla Kulusa Bandipora. The production well has been constructed at a cost of Rs 20.00 lakhs under Centrally Sponsored Scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) during the current year. The production well will provide irrigation facility to about 250 kanals of land of the village which had no irrigation facility till date. On this occasion Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora and Engineers of the Agriculture Department were present.
It may be mentioned that under RKVY the Department is establishing production wells as also deep bore wells for creating irrigation facilities for rainfed areas to enhance production and productivity of various Agricultural crops.
Speaking on the occasion Director Agriculture Kashmir informed that during last two years 10 production wells and over 100 deep bore wells have been constructed by the Department in various areas of Kashmir Division, creating assured irrigation facility for about 150 hectares of land. He said that about 4.50 Crore were spent for the purpose. He further informed the farmers that for enhancing water use efficiency, the Department is providing I.P sets on 50% subsidy. He called upon the farmers to avail the benefits for various schemes being implemented by the Department. The inhabitants of the village lauded the efforts of the Agriculture Department for meeting out their long pending demand.
