IRP-14th Bn organises seminar on drug abuse

JAMMU: In connection with celebrations of Police Raising Day week, a seminar on Drug Abuse Awareness was organised by IRP-14th Bn at Channi Himmat Jammu on Tuesday.

While addressing a large number of audience Rattan Chand Mannotra-IPS Commandant IRP-14th Bn expressed that use of drugs in early age increases chances of developing addiction of a person.

Drug changes brains and this can lead to addiction and other serious problems.

If we can prevent teens from experimenting with drugs, we can prevent drug addiction. He further said that using drugs can disrupt brain function in areas critical to motivation, memory, learning, judgment and behaviour control. It is not surprising that people that use alcohol and other drugs often have family and social problems, poor academic performance, health related problems including mental health.

He also stated that J and K Police is playing a vital role for prevention of drug abuse by holding such public awareness seminars as J and K Police has opened two de-addiction centers at Jammu and Srinagar respectively.

Earlier doctors from Police Hospital, GOs among other officers/officials also delivered their presentations on the subject.

Dy. Commandant, Adjutant, Q. Master along with available GOs and Nafri of IRP-14th Bn was also present on the occasion.
