JAMMU: J and K Volleyball Association A team defeated Pallanwala warriors by 3-2 (25-20, 11-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13) in the final of the volleyball tournament organised by IRP 10th Battalion under Civic Action Programme, here on Tuesday.
The trophy was presented to the winning team by the Chief Guest, S. A Wattali, IGP Armed Jammu. Earlier in the day, Volleyball Association A team defeated Sidhra team and Pallanwala Warriors defeated Volleyball Association B team in the semifinals. Shafkat Wattali told the gathering that the youth should have sportsman spirit in them and they should channelise their energy in positive direction and desist from entering in the vicious circle of drug addiction and other bad practices.
It is only through the medium of these programmes and sports meets that awareness can be disseminated to the masses, he added.
Others present on the occasion were Sonu Pargal, SDM South Jammu, Randeep Kumar SSP CO IRP 10th Bn, Sandeep Mehta SSP, Ravikant Sharma SP, Mazhar Hussain SP besides other senior police officers, members of sports fraternity and respectable citizens from civil society.
