International Olympiad Awards 20 students from Jammu get State Ranks

JAMMU: Around 20 students of Jammu made their parents proud by garnering State Ranks in the Olympiad Awards held recently in Delhi organized by Science Olympiad Foundation. About 40 lakh students, over 31,500 schools from 1,400 cities across India and 19 countries participated in the Olympiad exams during 2014-15.

In this Olympiad, Jammu came out with flying colours. With 20 State Rankers to its credit, Jammu proved its mettle all the way again. The rank 1 awardees from Jammu to receive certificate along with the medal were Amay Sharma of Class 3rd from Heritage School in National Cyber Olympiad, Ronak Singh of Class 5th from Heritage School in National Cyber Olympiad, Aiman Gupta of Class 6th from GD Goenka Public School in National Cyber Olympiad, Sparsh Jandial of class 7th from Heritage School in National Cyber Olympiad, Maanas Arora of Class 8th from Heritage School in National Cyber Olympiad, Sanatt Abrol of class 12th  from KC Public School in National Cyber Olympiad.

During the function, the top 3 international rank holders from classes one to twelve for the 4 Olympiad exams conducted by SOF were awarded.

The top 10 principals and top 40 teachers, whose students put up an exceptional performance at international level, were also felicitated with cash awards, mementos & citations.

The Program started with the lighting of the lamp at The Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in Delhi by the Chief Guest, Justice Deepak Verma, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India. Guests of Honour were Padma Shree Prof Y.S Rajan Chairman, NIT Manipur and Distinguished Prof. at ISRO, Michael Gordon, Teaching Centre Manager, India British Council, Padma Shree Dr. N.P Gupta and Chairman, Academic and Research in Urology at Medanta-The Medicity hospital,  Gurgaon, India.

The hall overflowing with winners, their families, well wishers and other guests, burst out in repeated applause, as each International winner proudly walked up to the stage to receive her/his award.

It was indeed a proud and momentous occasion for each winner, since the top rank was achieved after competing with millions of other students in a tough two level exam.

SOF is the world’s biggest organizer of Olympiad exams and have been conducting Olympiads since the past 18 years. SOF spends over Rs.10 crores annually towards awards, scholarships and felicitations of winners and participants.
