SAMBA: Samba Zone girls completely dominated in two of the events decided on Tuesday in the annual inter-zonal district level sports meet in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball for under-14 and under-17 age groups, under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), here.
Samba zone clinched kho-kho and kabaddi titles in both under-14 and under-17 age groups. However, Purmandal zone made their presence felt winning both under-14 and under-17 finals in volleyball.
Earlier, in under-14 kho-kho final, Samba zone defeated Vijaypur zone by a thin margin of one point. Later, in under-17 kho-kho title clash, Samba girls trounced the same opponent in Vijaypur Zone by a similar margin.
In under-14 kabaddi, Samba outplayed Purmandal zone by 21 points and in under-17 category, Samba girls defeated their counterparts from Vijaypur zone by 11 points.
However, in volleyball, Purmandal zone girls excelled beating Vijaypur zone 2-1 in under-17 and Samba zone 2-0 in under-14 category.
In the finals and prize distribution function, Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Joginder Singh was Chief Guest. Earlier, the distinguished gathering was welcomed, amidst words of advice to the participants, by Principal of GHSS Boys Samba, Narinder Singh. District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Subash Chander Bhardwaj in his vote of thanks expressed his gratitude to District Development Commissioner for her cooperation in smooth conduct of the competitions.
Among others present were Rakesh Verma, B.D Sharma, Vijay Singh Slathia, Pardeep Singh, Raghubir Singh (all ZPEOs) Dr Monika, Dr Sunil Dubey and incharge activity, Rekha Sambyal.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical penal comprising Rajni Devi, Purab Chander, Sudesh Sharma, Prem Nath, Rajinder Singh, Sudershan Kumar, Chanchla, Suman Sambyal, Meenu Kumari, Renu and Rama Rani.
