JAMMU: As part of the annual activities of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), inter-school zonal level boys’ (under-14 and under-17) competitions in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi, volleyball and wrestling got underway in two zones of Satwari and Miran Sahib, here on Tuesday.
The opening day of the Satwari Zone witnessed Government Middle School Shergarh winning the under-14 Kho-Kho title at Government Boys High School Jammu Cantonment. In the final, GMS Shergarh defeated Wazir Jankinath School 8-4. Semifinals: Wazir Jankinath School bt Shiksha Niketan HSS 4-3 and Government Middle School Shergarh outplayed GHS Old Satwari 4-2.
However, in other two team events of Kabaddi and Volleyball the teams have reached the finals and shall meet for the title clash tomorrow.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Head Master of Govt. Boys High School Jammu Cantonment, Raj Rani. Speaking to the participants, she laid stress on the importance of sports and physical activities in developing a balanced personality.
Today’s matches officiated by the technical panel including Hardev Singh, Ravinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Amit Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Harpreet Bhalla, Popinder Kour, Pushpinder Singh and Vishal.

Meanwhile, in Miran Sahib Zone the competition was declared open by District Officer Jammu (DYSS), Chanchal Kour in the presence of Organising Secretary, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Kiran Jyoti.
