JAMMU: INTACH Jammu Chapter celebrated World Environment as well as World Ocean Day at a function organised here on Tuesday. The theme of the World Environment Day this year is ‘Seven billion dreams, one planet consume with care’.
Vice Chancellor, Central University, Jammu, Dr. Ashok Aima was the Chief Guest, Convener INTACH, J and K Chapter, Saleem Beg and Head of Department Environment Science Jammu University, Prof. Anil Raina were the Guests of Honour.
Former Chairman, J and K Pollution Control Board, Dr. C.M Seth, Prof. Anil Raina and Ashok Mahajan, Senior Architect delivered lecture on heritage and environment.
The well being of the humanity, the environment and the functioning of economy ultimately depend upon the responsible management of the planets natural resources.
Beg emphasized upon the need to popularise local language, while presenting a welcome address.
Convener, INTACH, Jammu, S.M Sahni; Co-Convener Hemant Sharma explained the activities of INTACH Jammu Chapter. Maj. Gen. (Retd) G.S Jamwal proposed vote of thanks. New members were introduced and inducted into INTACH Jammu Chapter.
Dr. Ashok Aima delivered presidential address and appreciated the efforts of INTACH Jammu Chapter.
A Chinar as well as Pine tree were planted in TRC lawns as token of Environment and Ocean Day.
Among others present include Prof. Deepak Raj, Director, Tourism and Management, Kuldeep Wahi, President, Hospitality Sector, Jyoti Bhatti, Principal, FCI, Vijay Tandon, Joginder Singh, CTP, Anil Papa (J&K Bank), Suvidha Khanna, Assistant Prof. SHTM, Jammu University, Kamal Ganjoo, Photo and Exhibition Officer, Hemani Badayal, Conservation Architects.
