Institute of Company Secretaries of India celebrates Udai Divas

CHENNAI: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) celebrated Statutory Recognition Day on 1st January 2015 as ‘Udai Divas’ here.
J. Saddakadullah Regional Director RBI Chennai was the Chief Guest.
He said, “It is being increasingly realised all over the world that economic wellbeing and productive efficiency can be realised with intellectual and professional capabilities of human beings”.
“The Companies Act, 2013 has opened doors for Company Secretaries in number of areas such as insolvency, winding up, valuation and corporate restructuring besides secretarial audit and other related attestation services. Opportunities for Company Secretaries have widened in such a way that one would not have imagined earlier,” he added.
CS R Sridharan, President, ICSI, while speaking on the 34th anniversary of the ICSI’s Statutory Recognition said that Statutory Recognition Day has a significant role in every organisation and for an organisation like ICSI it is all the more important as it depicts the journey from a shop floor to a launch pad and this moment is to rejoice with the memories which made the organisation to reach at this point.”
K. Pandiarajan, CMD, MAFOI, who was the Guest of Honour said, “Today, India is one of the top emerging economies of the world, thanks to our deep roots in democratic beliefs, entrepreneurial talent, strong and skilled pool of human resources, well defined regulatory mechanism and the robust domestic demand. This transformation is not without challenges. It has spelled out new challenges in terms of demand of highest standards of quality and ethical practices. Professionals whether they are scientists, engineers, architects, chartered accountants, company secretaries, lawyers, all have a distinct and well defined role to play in turning these challenges into beneficial business opportunities.”
CS Sudhir Babu C, Council Member and Programme Director of ICSI Udai Divas said, “ICSI’s glorious ongoing journey has reached another milestone today as we are celebrating it as ‘Udai Divas’. On this day, the Institute completes 34 years of its statutory existence as the proponent of a great legacy of professional excellence through corporate compliances, corporate governance and service to the nation.”
CS Vikas Y. Khare, Vice-President, ICSI and CS Gopalkrishna Hegde, Council Member, ICSI were also present.
CS Sutanu Sinha, Chief Executive and Officiating Secretary, presented the vote of thanks.
