Jammu : All relief measures are being carried out on war footing to save the stranded people on NHW. As per the sources, near about 15000 persons has been dispatched in Police vehicles from Banihal, Ramsoo and Ramban Bus Stand to Jammu. All Police establishments are signalled to remain alert and provide every possible help to these victims. So far, 04 relief camps have been organized in district Ramban by district Police Ramban.
A community kitchen has been established by Police Personnel of Ramban District at Bus Stand Ramban. Moreover, Yatries were provided food and money contributed by district Police personnel. Sh. Sham Lal, Hon’ble Minister, Sh. Shant Manu, Div. Com Jammu Division and Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone Jammu reached here today at Ramban and took first hand note of relief measures provided to people coming from the different parts of Kashmir. Sh. Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, Dy. Inspector General of Police, DKR Range, who chaired a high level emergency meeting on relief operations in DPO Ramban, emphasised immediate attention be given in providing basic necessities like food, water and transportation to people severely affected by the calamity. Sh. Javed Iqbal Matoo, SSP Ramban, Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Traffic NHW Ramban, Sh. Arun Gupta, Addl. Supdt. of Police, Ramban, Sh. Amit Bhasin and Sh. Vinay Kumar, Dy. Commandants IRP 9th Bn also attended the meeting alongwith other senior officers of District and Para Military forces.
Keeping in view the urgent requirement of more vehicles and ration items, DC Ramban and Div Com Jammu have been consulted who shall provide 50 more vehicles as well as necessary food items. District Police has also established 04 relief camps at Banihal, Ramsoo, Ramban and Gool, where thousands of rescued people are being sheltered and being provided food and other basic amenities. To restore road connectivity, BRO is working on war footing. They ensured that the NHW at Ramsoo shall be in working condition within next 2/3 days positively as they are trying hard to clear the road blocked by fresh landslide. Meanwhile, all police personnel of Ramban district have decided to voluntarily contribute a good part of their salary for relief operation.
