R S PURA/NOWSHERA: The indiscipline looming large in various health institutions across the Jammu region came surface on Wednesday when scuffle broke out between two doctors posted at Sub District Hospital R.S Pura over a trivial matter.
According to a report, one Dr D.C Kundal complained that he was attacked by a colleague Dr Rajesh Thapa in the emergency ward of Sub District Hospital. The matter was brought to the notice of Chief Medical Officer Jammu Dr Ravinder Khajuria who said that it was a matter of misconduct for which report has been called from Block Medical Officer R.S Pura. He assured stern action against the erring doctor.
Meanwhile, people of Nowshehra complained to SDM Harbans Lal Sharma during his visit to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Lamberi that paucity of staff, had badly affected the institution, as a consequence of which patients were suffering. They said that due to dearth of facilities patients have to cover a long distance to reach the SDH Nowshera during emergency. He was informed that two posts of Assistant Surgeons are lying vacant in the PHC while just one post of Dentist was not sufficient to cater to the needs of the people.
The SDM discussed the issue with the authorities of Health Department and sought required improvement in the functioning of this PHC.
Meanwhile, expressing grave concern over non-availability of doctors and inadequate para-medical staff in Sub-District Hospitals at Nowshera and Sunderbani, senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Member of Legislative Council (MLC), Surinder Choudhary have demanded required medical staff.
He sought personal intervention of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in the matter to give some relief to the residents of this mountainous belt.
In a statement, Choudhary pointed out that with the commencement of summer, incidents of snake bites have increased but there is no provision of providing treatment to the patients. “Except rushing to GMC Jammu even for common diseases people have no other option because Rajouri Hospital also lacks in providing medicare services,” he said.
Cautioning about the growing anguish, Choudhary warned that people will be left with no other option but to come on streets if the required medical staff is not deployed in these two hospitals within one week.
