India, Kenya enter women’s semi-finals; India, Kenya, Belarus, Senegal in men’s quarter-finals

PUNE: Kenya from women’s group A and India from group B have entered the semi-finals of the 6th World Cup Rollball tournament.
India from Men’s Group A, Kenya from Group B, Belarus from Group C and Senegal from Group D entered the quarter-finals.
In the men’s category, India entered the quarter-finals of the tournament after defeating Argentina 9-1 in the ongoing tournament at the Sri Shiv Chhatrapati Stadium in Mhalunge Balewadi, here.
India dominated the match by taking a 4-0 lead at the interval. Akash Ganeshwade scored three goals at (4.40, 15.15, 36.30 minutes) and Srikanth Sahu also scored three goals at (12.27, 26.02, 30.07 minutes) while Harshal Ghuge scored two goals at (17.25, 21.27 minutes) and Aditya Sutar scored one at (28.55 minute) helping the team’s victory. Emiliano Jesus (32.10 minute) scored a goal for Argentina.
India defeated Argentina, Fiji, Poland, Egypt and Uganda to enter the quarter-finals. Poland and Egypt are in a tie for the second place.
From the Men’s Group B, Kenya defeated Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, France and Iran to qualify for the quarterfinals. In Men’s Group C, Belarus entered the quarter-finals after defeating Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Oman and Brazil. From Group D, the Senegal team defeated New Zealand, England, and Latvia to qualify for the quarterfinals.
In the women’s section, India thrashed Ciara Leavon’s team 9-0 to secure a place in the semi-finals from Group B. The lead was 5-0 at the interval. Ishika Sharma at (0.50, 16.22 minutes), captain S. Susmitha at (18.35, 22.55 minutes), Shruti Bhagat (19.30, 29.40 minutes) got two each while Devanshi Patel (32.50 minute), Pooja Chaudhary (13.15 minute) and Khushi Wankhede (25.00 minute) scored one goal each. Not a single player could score from Ciara Leavon’s team.
From women’s group B, India reached the semi-finals directly after defeating Ciara Levon, Poland, Latvia and Argentina. Latvia and Poland will be fighting for the second place.
From Women’s Group A, Kenya defeated Egypt to enter the semi-finals of the tournament. From the same group, Egypt and France will be facing each other for the second place.
Earlier, in the women’s group, Sri Lanka advanced by defeating Nepal 6-1. At the interval, Sri Lanka was leading 4-1. M.D Didulani scored three goals, Naveda scored two goals and Chalani S scored one goal to win the team. Bitisha Maharjan scored one goal for Nepal team.
