India defeats Hong Kong in 22nd Asian U-20 women’s Volleyball Championship

JAMMU: In a thrilling match at the 22nd Asian U-20 Women’s Volleyball Championship in China, the Indian team secured a remarkable victory over Hong Kong, winning by 3-2 sets with scores of 16-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, and 15-7. This victory came after an earlier defeat to Japan in three straight sets on the first day of the championship.
Ananathi, Kavita, Raksha, and Piyali, players of the Indian team, showcased exceptional performance.
Kuldip Magotra, the Chief Executive Officer of the Volleyball Association of J&K and the Indian team’s manager, praised the Indian team for displaying magnificent skills and defeating Hong Kong in a closely contested match.
He expressed confidence that this win would place India among the top two teams in the quarter-finals of their pool.
Magotra extended his gratitude to the adhoc committee of the Volleyball Federation Association (VFI), particularly Chairman Rohit Rajpal and Joint Secretary IOA Alankanda Ashok, for their meticulous selection of talented players, coaches, and officials for the championship.
He emphasized the team’s determination to earn recognition in the realm of international volleyball.
The Patron in Chief, Raj Daluja, President Sidharth Daluja, General Secretary V.K Magotra, Treasurer R.C. Sharma, and all office bearers of the Volleyball Association of J&K conveyed their best wishes to the team and management for their commendable performance in the ongoing championship.
The 22nd Asian U-20 Women’s Volleyball Championship, which commenced on July 1, 2024, is scheduled to conclude on July 9, 2024, in Jiangmen, China.
