Incorrigible neighbour

Dear Editor,
Coinciding with terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s anti-India rally in Lahore, the Lashkar-e-Tayyeba engineered four attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, including an army camp in Uri. These offensives have again exposed Pakistan’s involvement in terror directed against India from its territory. It is time that our leaders get away from their rhetoric and stop reciting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statement that friends can be changed but not neighbours.
In his failed bid to buy peace with Pakistan, Vajpayee had ignored the fact that neighbours can also be changed, which was proved by Indira Gandhi, who got our eastern neighbour changed and brought Pakistan on its knees. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s assertion that Pakistan should stop ceasefire violations and develop a heart-to-heart relationship with India is pointless. Pakistan will not see reason unless India’s Pakistan-policy is radically changed, and terror attacks on India become truly unaffordable for Pakistan.
