 STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri on Sunday urged Governor N.N Vohra to include the corpus amount for payment of long pending wages in respect of nearly 61,000 Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) across various departments and utilities of State Government in the run up to approval of State Government Budget 2016-17 by State Administrative Council.
Addressing NMC workers meet here on Sunday, Shastri while appreciating the constitution of empowered committee under Chief Secretary B.R Sharma to look into the issue of regularisation of these workers, suggested a strict time bound schedule to be finalised and hoped that the regularisation of eligible workers will be announced at the earliest. Shastri also urged Vohra to consider removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre of the State.
Appreciating the speedy works being undertaken under Governor’s rule, Shastri praised Governor for his steps to streamline functioning of State administration on account of his vast administrative and constitutional experience.
Shastri lamented that State Government employees and pensioners are yet to be paid DA at the rate of six per cent due from 1st July, 2015 and hoped that the same will be released soon due to fresh DA installment becoming due in respect of Central Government employees.
Regarding the issue of EPF withdrawals, Shastri expressed the opinion that Central laws on this issue are not in the interest of workers and appealed Union Finance Minister to roll back this order immediately as there is no viable social security net at present.
Several resolutions were adopted in the meet which include immediate issuing of regularisation orders of 180 daily rated workers working in Rural Development Department falling under SRO 64, enhancing wages of daily rated workers to Rs 10,000 per month, issuing notification regarding implementation of Seventh Pay Commission, setting up of National Wage Commission, enhancing of medical allowance to Rs 1,000 per month and implementing CP Fund deduction scheme in all departments.
