NEW DELHI: Member Parliament from Ladakh and member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, Thupstan Chhewang demanded early completion of border roads in Ladakh region including Tsaga-Demjok Road, Mahe-Kuyul Road, etc which have been sanctioned by the Union of India to enhance national security.
In this connection, a meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Defence Secretary, Government of India to discuss various issues pertaining to national security. The meeting also discussed the provision of all-weather dependable road connectivity up to international borders and strategic areas. Chhewang asked the ministry for providing road connectivity to all border areas of Ladakh region with national mainstream. He also asked that projects completed under Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and other wings of Defence Ministry should be reviewed.
