JAMMU: A grandiose Shobha Yatra was taken out on Wednesday by the Dharmarth Trust J&K in collaboration with the Sanatan Dharm Sabha and Dharmik Youvak Mandal comprising glittering Jhankis depicting the important life moments of Lord Krishna on the eve of Shree Krishna Janmashtami from the historical Shri Raghunathji Temple here.
On the occasion, Ajatshatru Singh, Trustee of J&K Dharmarth Trust along with Mayor Rajinder Sharma, Ajay Sadhotra former Minister, CCI President Arun Gupta, Parshotam Kumar Dadeechi, President of Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Purnima Sharma, former Deputy Mayor, Trust’s President Brig R.S Langeh (Retd), Secretary Ashok Kumar Sharma (SSP Retd), Additional Secretary Varinder Singh Jamwal and Trust’s Council Member Vishal Abrol presided over the Murti Poojan at Shri Raghunath Ji Temple. Thereafter, Rath Poojan and Dhwajarohan ceremonies were performed.
Meanwhile, The members of Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj gathered with fervour and devotion to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. The event was graced by the presence of Yudhvir Sethi, Chairman of Natak Samaj, and Anil Masoom, President of the Natak Samaj, who performed the ceremonial Pooja and led the Shobha Yatra through the streets of Jammu.
Yudhvir Sethi, expressing his delight on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janamashtami, conveyed his warm greetings to the people.
He highlighted the importance of such festivals in strengthening the cultural fabric of our society, promoting unity, and fostering spiritual growth.
Thousands of devotees comprising prominent citizens, politicians and heads of social and religious organizations participated in the Shobha Yatra. Members of Muslim brethren also accorded a rousing reception to the Yatra enroute.
The Shobha Yatra started from the Shri Raghunathji Temple and passed through various markets including Residency Road, Rajinder Bazaar, Kanak Mandi, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazaar, Chowk Chabutra, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazaar, Raj Tilak Road, Raghunath Bazaar and finally culminated at Shri Raghunath Ji Temple.
Ajatshatru Singh, in his message, felicitated people on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janamashtami and prayed that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the celebration of festivals, which are an important part of our glorious heritage, strengthens communal harmony and brotherhood and reinvigorates the secular ethos. He prayed for peace and the well-being of the people of the Union Territory.
Tight security arrangements were ensured by the District Administration across the city for the smooth conduct of religious procession.
During the Shobha Yatra various senior police officers also marked their presence to make arrangements robust and incident-free. Besides, J&K SDRF personnel were also deployed.
