JAMMU: Safaikaramchari Union, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), on Thursday demanded a thorough probe against local union leaders who provoked and supported the Safaikaramcharis for illegally occupying the quarters made by JMC at Sunjuwan.
“Some local union leaders of JMC illegally occupied the quarters made by JMC Jammu at Sunjuwan through poor casual Safaikaramcharis but next day, by the intervention of JMC Commissioner, the quarters were forcibly vacated and a high level enquiry and action was taken against these casual Safaikaramcharis,” President of the Union, Dev Anand Gill told reporters, here on Thursday.
An early action in this regard against the local union leaders and not against the poor and down trodden Safaikaramcharis is highly soiicited in this regard.
He alleged that JMC Commissioner took action against Safaikaramcharis but he ignored the local union leaders who not only pressurised casual Safaikaramcharis to occupy the quarters but at the time of action, they ran away.
He also demanded from government to enhance the wages of casual labourers and NGO labourers from Rs. 150 to Rs. 300 per day.
Shanker Kumar, Rashpal, Gagi Moman, Gopal Krishan, Chaman Lal, Sheel, Anil, Bhagat Ram, Rakesh, Rohit, Manzoor Ali, Harrison, Abhi, Pawan, Garmez and Bobby were also present in the press conference.
