Illegal distribution of solar lights, ACR asks police to register FIR

KISHTWAR: ACR Kishtwar Khalid Malik has asked the police to take cognizance of allegations of illegal distribution of solar lights in different parts of this mountainous district.
According to sources, a delegation of local residents called on the ACR here and sought action against some erring panchayat members who are allegedly involved in illegal distribution of solar lights provided by the J&K Energy Development Authority (JAKEDA).
The deputation claimed that solar lights were distributed illegally during late night hours to evade public scrutiny.
Pertinently, officials of JKEDA had informed SHO Kishtwar in writing regarding the dumping of solar lights at the residences of Sarpanches of Patwar Halqa Trigham, saying that the same have been reportedly stolen during the intervening night of 12th and 13th January 2016 by unknown persons.
Meanwhile, ACR Kishtwar under his office order No ACR/K/2016/253 has directed Police to take cognizance of allegations of illegal distribution of solar lights and register a case against erring Sarpanches under the relevant Law, order reads.
