BENGALURU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu on Monday inaugurated a four-day Onsite Business Communication & Presentation Skills Programme for officials of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at the HAL Management Academy, Bengaluru. The programme is being conducted for the Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking as part of IIM Jammu’s executive education initiatives.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, who addressed the gathering in online mode. Arup Kumar Mallick, Executive Director, HAL Management Academy (DPSU), graced the occasion in person, while Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean – Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, and Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson – Executive Education and Consulting, IIM Jammu, also participated online.
Welcoming the participants, Arup Kumar Mallick highlighted the strategic importance of the programme in strengthening leadership capabilities and enhancing effective communication within HAL. He shared insights into HAL’s rich legacy, its critical role in nation building, and its contribution to India’s aerospace and defence ecosystem. He emphasized the value of industry-academia collaboration in addressing `evolving leadership and communication challenges.
Addressing the participants, Prof. B.S. Sahay lauded HAL’s contribution to national development and said it was deeply encouraging to collaborate with the HAL Management Academy. He underlined the importance of continuous learning, innovation-driven leadership, and knowledge co-creation in building globally competitive public sector enterprises.
Prof. Jabir Ali stated that the programme has been uniquely designed by integrating best academic practices with contemporary industry frameworks. He emphasized a discussion-driven and experiential learning approach aimed at translating insights into organizational impact. Prof. Sanjeev Pathak reiterated IIM Jammu’s commitment to building a long-term and sustainable partnership with HAL through executive education and consulting initiatives.
The programme aims to enhance strategic communication, executive presence, and high-impact presentation skills among leadership professionals. Moving beyond conventional presentation techniques, it integrates visual storytelling, behavioural insights, digital tools, and AI-enabled platforms such as Canva, Prezi, Power BI, Tableau, and GenAI tools. Participants will develop competencies in persuasive communication, data visualization, and executive-level influence.
The training is being delivered by a distinguished faculty team comprising Dr. Gaana J. and Dr. Sundar R. (Programme Directors), along with Dr. Apurva and Dr. Chinmaya Kumar Swain.
The inaugural session concluded with an overview of the programme structure and an interactive exchange with participating executives, reaffirming IIM Jammu’s commitment to industry-aligned leadership development and national capacity building.
