JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu hosted a Roundtable Conference at Hotel Trinity, Whitefield, Bengaluru, centered on the theme “Fostering Academia and Industry Partnership: The Way Ahead.” The event aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by encouraging collaboration to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities in the corporate world.
In his welcome address, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, emphasized the crucial role of academia-industry partnerships in shaping the future of education. He highlighted IIM Jammu’s dedication to equipping students with not only a strong academic foundation but also the practical skills needed to excel in the professional world. Prof. Sahay stressed that such collaborations would ensure that graduates are industry-ready and capable of meeting the evolving demands of the workforce.
The event began with a welcome and registration session, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Garima Saini, Co-Chairperson of Placements at IIM Jammu, delivered an introductory speech, setting the stage for the discussions ahead. A video presentation on IIM Jammu showcased the institute’s achievements and its ongoing efforts to integrate academic excellence with industry needs. Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Chairperson of Placements at IIM Jammu, further emphasized the institute’s strong academia-industry ties. The conference featured three panel discussions, each addressing key aspects of the industry-academia partnership:
Cultivating Industry-Ready Leaders for Long-Term Employability focused on strategies to prepare graduates for the dynamic global industry by fostering adaptability, leadership, and practical expertise.
Navigating the Future of Work: Integrating AI, Ethical Practices, and Human-Centric Skills explored how artificial intelligence, ethical considerations, and human-centric skills will shape the future workplace.
Leadership in Digital Transformation highlighted the role of leadership in successfully navigating organizations through digital advancements, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and strategic decision-making.
Dr. Garima Saini delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and stressing the importance of ongoing dialogue between academia and industry. The event concluded with the national anthem followed by lunch and networking sessions, allowing attendees to explore potential collaborations.
Later in the evening, IIM Jammu’s Alumni Committee hosted a lively Alumni Meet, also at Hotel Trinity. The meet featured an address by Prof. B.S. Sahay, who emphasized the importance of a strong alumni network. Alumni shared insights on strengthening the network and were briefed on the institute’s latest developments.
