CHENANI: In order to review the security arrangements at Sudhmahadev Mela where thousands of devotees from all over the Jammu province visit, Danish Rana, the Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone on Tuesday paid a visit to Sudhmahadev, Chenani. He was accompanied by Surinder Gupta, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mohd. Suleman Choudhary, SSP Udhampur and Mohan Lal Kaith, Addl. SP Udhampur besides other territorial officers.
During the visit, IGP Interacted with the pilgrims/devotees visiting holy shrine and directed the police officers and officials on duty to remain polite but firm while dealing with the pilgrims as the religious sentiments of general public during such Melas remains at its peak. IGP directed the police to remain on high alert and keep a close watch on the activities of anti-social elements to foil their nefarious designs. He also directed the manpower to keep a check on the activities of the eve-teasers/pick-pockets to avoid any law and order problem.
IGP also inspected Police Post Sudhmahadev and Police Station Chenani enroute and enquired about the wellbeing/welfare of the manpower deployed in these police units. He also reviewed the crime position of these police units and issued on the spot directions with regard to the professional prevention and detection of crime.
