IGP promotes 2,472 police personnel

SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Muneer Ahmad Khan approved the promotion of 2,472 police personnel to their next rank.
A Departmental Promotion Committee met under the chairmanship of Munir Ahmad Khan and promoted 2,472 constables to the rank of Selection Grade Constables of Executive Wing of J and K Police after having been brought on promotion list A-I and A-II.
It may be mentioned that the State Government vide Home Department order No. 183-F of 2017 dated June 12, had recently raised the percentage of Selection Grade Constables from existing 25 to 50 per cent of the total sanctioned strength of the constabulary in J and K Police and the DPC was conducted to fill up the vacancies that accrued as a result of this government order. IGP Munir Ahmad Khan, in his message to the promoted officials and to their families, felicitated them and expressed hope that the promotion will act as a morale booster which will enable the officials to work with zeal and zest.
Among others who were present in the meeting included Gh Hassan Bhat DIG of Police, CKR Srinagar, Muzafar Ahmad Shah, SO to IGP Kashmir Zone, Dawood Ayoub ASP Srinagar, Nasir Murtaza, DDP ZPHQ, Mohammad Ashraf, Accounts Officer ZPHQ and Altaf Hussain, SO Establishment ZPHQ Kashmir.
