KATHUA: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain on Monday reviewed the crime position and overall functioning of District Kathua with all supervisory officers, SHOs, IOs and other Police officers.
The disposal of cases registered during the current year and previous pendency was reviewed, discussed and instructions issued.
Anand Jain was accompanied by DIG JKS Range Shakti Pathak and his team of officers and was given a guard of honour at Kathua, on his arrival.
IGP Jammu Zone in his first visit interacted and welcomed all the officers with the note that the basic concept behind conducting the meeting is to see and discuss as to where the fault lies and how to improve the quality of investigation.
The focus was laid on NDPS cases, bovine smuggling cases, Crime Against Property and Crime Against Person, and inquest proceedings. The participants were briefed to concentrate on NDPS cases with special reference to find out, source, carrier and destination.
With regard to the theft cases, a strategy needs to be framed, night patrolling be enhanced, beat system be also improved.
IGP Jammu also emphasised on effective prosecution of NDPS cases and other cases of tenuous nature to ensure that the cases end in conviction.
IGP, while briefing the officers, advised them for finalization of the pending cases/public complaints to give the relief to the general public and directed IOs for speedy disposal of cases assigned to them for conducting the investigation.
He asked the officers to strengthen the CI grid and to stimulate the basic functioning of police by way of effective supervision over the function of Police Stations.
SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal gave a detailed power point presentation and briefed IGP Jammu Zone about the Law and order crime and security scenario alongwith other activities being carried out by Kathua Police in the district. He also highlighted measures adopted to strengthen security grid and improve policing.
Later, IGP Jammu Anand Jain held the public meeting at Conference of DPL Kathua in which a large number of respectable people including DDCs, BDCs, Senior Citizens and Beopar Mandal Members etc participated and highlighted various issues of public importance.
They were assured by the chairing officers that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority.
Participants were also stressed upon to cooperate with police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying ANEs/ASEs who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment.
