IGP Jammu Zone reviews security, crime at Samba

SAMBA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police JSK Range, Shakti Kumar Pathak on Tuesday visited Samba, held a Darbar of officials, presided over an impressive police-public meeting and chaired crime review meeting.
IGP Jammu Zone, who was on his maiden visit to Samba after assuming the charge as Zonal Police Chief, was given a ceremonial guard of honour on his arrival at District Police Headquarters and was received by Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh, Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, all SDPOs, SHOs and Incharge PPs of the district.
IGP Jammu Zone held a Darbar of officers & officials of District Police Samba and listened to the reports of the officials empathetically with a view to redress the genuine grievances on priority.
The Jammu Zone Police chief, who is also head of ACB J&K, also presided over the police-public meet at District Police Headquarters Samba which was attended by a large number of prominent citizens, social workers, intellectuals, PRIs and other respectable persons from all walks of life hailing from different parts of the district.
IGP also chaired crime review meeting and issued directives to all the police officers of the district to wipe out residual heroin menace from the district at the earliest taking stringent legal action against all smugglers and suppliers of narcotic substances especially heroin (‘Chitta’).
The SDPOs, SHOs and IC PPs were directed to conduct thorough investigation of NDPS cases and unearth forward & backward linkages of smugglers so that no conspirator or perpetrator of narco crime remains Scot free. Addressing the darbar of officials, IGP Jammu Zone directed the officers and officials to adopt people-friendly approach and serve the people honestly & dedicatedly.
He asked the police officers and officials to examine the complainants at the Police Stations patiently, politely and respectfully irrespective of their stature.
Speaking at the police-public meet, Jain assured the people that police-public meetings would be conducted after short intervals at different locations, as cooperation of the people is a must to control crime, drug menace and terrorism. He further said that police would start an exclusive helpline to create awareness among youth against drug abuse and to provide required counselling.
