JAMMU: Fifth edition of the Christmas Twenty20 Cricket Cup being organised by Christian Sports Organisation Jammu and Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu shall declare open by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Dr S.D Singh at Parade Ground, here from December 5.
This was stated by Chairman of the CSO, Fr. Kuriakose in the press conference here on Saturday.
He said the championship in which 16 teams shall compete for the top honours is being supported by Diocese of J&K.
The slogan of the tournament will be “Be Healthy- Don’t Do Drugs”.
The participating teams included KC Sports Club, Singh Club Akhnoor, Game Changer XI, Department of Road & Safety XI, Vishal Cricket Club, Media XI, ICC, Kashmir Blues, Srinagar XI, Shastri Cricket Club, Aditi Welfare Trust XI, Shiva Cricket Club, Simula Sports Club, Arsh Cricket Club, Wandaal Cricket Club and Lakshmi Cricket Club, informed by Organizing Secretary of the Championship, Rajesh Gill.
He said the main objective of the tournament is to provide platform to the youths of the State to involve them in sports activities regularly so that they may not derail from the main stream and remain away from drugs. The Organizing Committee, he said, is headed by Dr. S.D Singh IGP Jammu, Fr. Kuriakose Chairman CSO, Rajesh Sharma SO to IGP Jammu, Dr. Vinod Kumar, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer (Org. Secy.),Victor Sotra, Asif Gill, David Mattoo, William Mattoo, Sunny Gill and R.P Singh.
He added the championship is being sponsored by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank and Canara Bank.
