IGNOU Regional Centre takes over new campus building at Bantalab from CPWD

JAMMU: After nearly 26 years since the inception of IGNOU operations in Jammu and Kashmir in 1998, the IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu is finally ready to commence its operations from a new campus in Jammu.
The new campus, located at Rajinder Vihar Housing Colony, Phase-I, Bantalab, Jammu, marks a significant milestone for IGNOU in the region.
The inauguration of the state-of-the-art building took place virtually on February 7, 2024, by Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship.
The new campus building boasts modern amenities and infrastructure, including high-tech electric, electronic, CCTV, solar, intercom, EPABX, fire alarm, fire fighting downcomer systems, as well as a passenger lift, DG set, and panels. The construction of the building was carried out by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
In a formal ceremony, the CPWD authorities handed over the new campus building to the IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu. Dr. Jai Prakash Verma, Regional Director, along with other officials from IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu, including Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Dr. Asha Upadhyay, Tejinder Pal Singh, Rajesh Mohan, Lakhbir Singh, and Naveen Dutta, were present to receive the building.
Representatives from CPWD, including J.L. Meena, AE(Civil), Vikash, JE(Civil), and Palash Choudhary, JE(Electrical), were also present at the handover ceremony. The takeover included all inventories necessary for the functioning of the Regional Centre.
Dr. Jai Prakash Verma expressed his joy at the formal takeover of the new campus and informed that the Regional Centre Jammu would soon commence its operations from the new premises once the shifting process is completed.
This development signifies a significant advancement for IGNOU in expanding its educational outreach and providing enhanced facilities for students in the Jammu region.
