JAMMU: More than 90 independent observers from the field of education, media, etc have been deputed across the region in all 27 examination centres by IGNOU for the term-end examination.
Regional Centre Flying Squad teams under the leadership of Assistant Regional Directors and Assistant Registrar have been stationed in five different sub-regions for surprise monitoring of Examination Centres.
Deputy Commissioners of all ten districts are helping the Regional Centre Jammu by way of sending administrative intervention teams to monitor examination centres in the concerned districts.
In order to ensure that the examinees do not have to travel long distances for appearing in exams, efforts have been made to establish examination centres in the areas of their habitats like Mendhar, Chhatroo, Bhalessa, etc. As per the directions of the Supreme Court of India, IGNOU has provided full support to the challenged learners during the term-end examinations.
One such examinee, Gurnam Singh of MA (English) appearing in Examination Centre Code 1259, Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Degree College, Sunderbani, has been given full support to come to the examination hall alongwith his special vehicle since he is not able to sit. Two more visually challenged learners appearing in examination centre code 1285, Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Examination Centre Code 1259, Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Degree College, Sunderbani have been provided full support in terms of scribes and other facilities.
IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu has centres in four jails out of which examination centres have been set up in three jails exclusively for jail inmates.
