ICSI hosts symposium on quality of audit

NEW DELHI: The Quality Review Board of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) organised its first symposium on Quality of Audit and Attestation Services Rendered by Professionals here on Friday.

Quality brings confidence in the users of services, said S.L Bunker, Member Competition Commission of India who was the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Session.

While highlighting the expanded role of company secretaries in the light of Companies Act, 2013 he said that Company Secretaries are to expand their horizon of practice beyond Company Law by specially covering other legislations like Competition Law.

U.C Nahata, Chairman, Quality Review Board while appreciating ICSI team for bringing out a Manual on Quality of Audit and Attestation Services said that the consequential impact of regulatory violation is high and accordingly the quality of services should never be compromised.

Atul Mehta, President appreciated the Quality Review Board and referred to the journey of company secretary from record keeper to Key Managerial Personnel and said that one profession is a dependable profession is a dependable agency that should retain and increase stakeholders confidence.

Sutanu Sinha, Chief Executive and Officiating Secretary in his vote of thanks stated that quality review is the part of development process which is continuous.  He said quality review is indeed essential especially after the introduction of Secretarial Standards/Secretarial Audit under Companies Act which has expanded the scope of professionals.
